Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Mahjong Studio LA website, online store, products, rentals, lessons, events, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). “Mahjong Studio LA,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Mahjong Studio LA. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a legally binding agreement to use or purchase through the Services. If you create an account or submit information, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account.

2. Products and services

We make reasonable efforts to describe and display our products and services accurately. Colors, dimensions, packaging, availability, and other details may vary slightly from images or descriptions. We may modify, discontinue, limit, or refuse any product or service at any time, subject to applicable law.

3. Orders, pricing, and payment

All orders are subject to acceptance and availability. Prices, promotions, taxes, delivery charges, rental deposits, and other fees are shown or communicated before purchase or confirmation. We may correct pricing or description errors and may cancel or limit an order when permitted by law. You agree to provide valid payment and billing information and authorize applicable charges.

4. Rentals

Rental availability, duration, pickup or delivery arrangements, deposits, late fees, replacement costs, and cancellation terms will be shown or communicated at the time of booking. Rented items remain the property of Mahjong Studio LA. You agree to use rented items carefully, follow provided instructions, and return all items on time in substantially the same condition, ordinary wear excepted. You are responsible for loss, theft, missing pieces, excessive cleaning, or damage occurring while the items are in your possession, to the extent permitted by law and as disclosed in the rental agreement or booking confirmation.

5. Lessons and events

Lesson and event schedules, locations, pricing, attendance limits, rescheduling, and cancellation terms will be shown in the applicable registration form or booking confirmation. Participation is voluntary. You are responsible for determining whether participation is appropriate for you and for following venue and instructor rules. We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, skill level, or result.

6. Shipping, returns, and cancellations

Shipping, delivery, return, refund, exchange, and cancellation terms are governed by the policies and details presented on our website or communicated with your order or booking. Where these Terms conflict with a more specific written policy or booking agreement, the more specific policy or agreement controls.

7. Acceptable use

You may use the Services only for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes unless we give written permission otherwise. You may not interfere with the operation or security of the Services; attempt unauthorized access; introduce malicious code; scrape or copy content through automated means; impersonate another person; submit false or misleading information; infringe intellectual property or privacy rights; or use the Services in violation of applicable law.

8. Intellectual property

The Services and their content—including text, graphics, logos, photographs, designs, videos, and site layout—are owned by or licensed to Mahjong Studio LA and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view and use the Services for their intended purpose, but you may not reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, or exploit our content without prior written permission. Third-party names, products, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

9. User submissions

If you send us reviews, photos, comments, suggestions, or other content, you represent that you have the right to do so and that the content is lawful and does not violate another person’s rights. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and display that content in connection with operating and promoting the Services. The Services may include links to or integrations with third parties, including Shopify, payment processors, social media platforms, booking forms, and delivery providers. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services, content, or availability.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim warranties not expressly stated in writing, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for every purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mahjong Studio LA and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from the Services. Our total liability for a claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us for the product or service giving rise to the claim during the twelve months before the event giving rise to liability. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.

14. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mahjong Studio LA and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Services if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, or engaged in fraudulent or abusive conduct. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. Nothing in these Terms limits rights available under applicable consumer-protection law.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where additional notice or consent is required by law.

18. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted. These Terms, together with our posted policies and any specific written agreement for a purchase, rental, lesson, or event, form the entire agreement between you and Mahjong Studio LA regarding the Services.
